Some of New Zealand's top R&B; and hip hop artists are on their way to Rotorua.

R&B star Pieter T will perform with DJ Sir-Vere and hip hop artist K-One at Rotorua's Heaven and Hell nightclub on Friday as part of an event called the Swagger Party - and Waiariki Institute of Technology students will get free entry.

The top acts will be supported by locals including Sway Styles and DJ Sanka.

Anyone heading to the Rotorua show has been encouraged to prepare for a good time and be ready to party by Pieter T.

"Bring your dancing shoes, it's going to be a good party," Pieter T said.

"I'm assuming it's going to be a packed night."

He said he enjoyed bringing his music to Rotorua and classed Heaven and Hell as one of the top three nightclubs in the country.

"It's always a good place to come and party," he said.

"By far one of the best clubs I've been to in New Zealand."

Pieter T last performed in Rotorua in February and he is looking forward to coming back, especially since he was sick the last time and wasn't happy with his performance then.

"I always try my best to put on as good a show as possible."

He was not sure how long his set would be but said the fans had the power in keeping him onstage.

"If they want me to keep going then I'll keep going."

You can guarantee Pieter T will perform fan favourites such as My Baby and It Would Be You but Rotorua audiences can also expect to hear some new songs as well.

He said he might test out some of his new numbers ahead of an expected album release later in the year.

Pieter T said he planned to release an album around September or October and although he hasn't confirmed a name for it yet, he said he was "really liking the name 'Completion"'.

However, that doesn't mean he plans to stop any time soon.

The rest of the year is going to be a bit busy for Pieter T -he's about to film a music video,is getting involved in an R&B;/hip hop mix tape with Kiwirapper PNC and will also go on tour.

He regularly tours around the Pacific Islands but wants to look at Asia and Hawaii in the future.

"I'll never give up New Zealand completely.

"There's a lot to expect from me.

"I'm definitely still here."

Waiariki students will get free entry but the cost will be $5 for non-students before 11.30pm or $10 after that time.
