NZ has Rotorua for breakfast

Musicians and dance groups from Rotorua were aired live on national television as part of TV One's Breakfast show.

The show included live crosses to the Rotorua Museum yesterday morning with four talented musicians and groups featuring on the show.

The local groups were invited to perform live ahead of the New Zealand's Got Talent Rotorua auditions at John Paul College last night.

Breakfast weatherman Sam Wallace introduced all four groups, interviewed Rotorua Mayor Kevin Winters, and read the weather as part of the crossovers.

Rotorua's Shanz Whare performed with his dance group Breakthrew during the show.

"That was our first time on television. We were a bit nervous beforehand but it went pretty well."

The group had been together for only about a week, with some new members entering the four-person dance group.

The other musicians and groups included Lloyd Akroyd, Swamp Thing and Steve Wright.

A small crowd of supporters came out to watch the live feeds yesterday morning, starting from 6am outside the museum.

"We have done a few Breakfast shows here and we really like it," Wallace said. "We would like to come down here more often."

He said, if possible, he would quite like to do a show while seated in one of the hot pools.

Breakfast has promoted the Toyota Talent Tour since it started in Invercargill at the end of April, visiting 11 centres across the country where New Zealand's Got Talent auditions are being held.

They visit Tauranga today.
