Paikea Hemi had been out of prison for just 10 days before he reoffended - this time attacking family members.
He was sentenced to 18 months' jail for three charges of male assaults female and four months for breaching release conditions, to be served concurrently.
Hemi had gone to hismother's house to collect some belongings when the incidents happened, Rotorua District Court heard.
Defence lawyer Gisele Schweizer said Hemi went to the address "with good intentions". He had been drinking, his mother had been drinking and "everything fell apart once he was there", she added.
"He was asked to leave and he did but his sister followed him. That led to the assault on his sister. He has no recollection of pushing his mother but accepts they were drunk."
