THINK PINK: Rotorua's Lakeland Queen will be hosting a two-hour cruise to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The Think Pink Cruise is set to offer a "fun-filled" evening of entertainment and inspiration, with guest speakers from The Rotorua Cancer Trust and support programme Casting for Recovery. Co-organiser Kylie Bartlem (pictured with co-organiser Emma Hodges) of Lakeland Queen says the idea of the themed cruise arose out of a personal experience from a former staff member. "Her mum was from America and suffered from breast cancer, she was part of the 'Save the Tatas' group who did a lot of fundraising events. We thought it'd be cool to do an event here," Ms Bartlem said. Those taking part are encouraged to dress in pink with spot prizes offered every 10 minutes. Live entertainment will be provided by Rotorua band MLC (Mid Life Crisis). The Think Pink cruise will be tomorrow evening between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets can be bought for $29, with proceeds going to The Rotorua Breast Cancer Trust and Casting for Recovery. Automatic registration for the Pink Walk on October 27 is included in the cruise ticket. Ms Bartlem says bookings are essential, with tickets sold from the Lakeland Queen office at the Rotorua Lake Front, Memorial Drive.
