All of the couples have picked their style of dance now, and most have gone with one style to one piece of music.

But, Flash (Brent Park) and I have decided to do something a little different, without giving away too much, we have more than one style of dance in our item.

As I mentioned last week, one of those styles is tango, and this week we decided to add a lift to the end of it.

We tried it for the first time this week. Wow. It's so much harder than I realised.

I'm standing in front of Flash with my back to him and he picks me up, I arch my back and hover over his head with my head back and then he slowly places me back down.

That's not how it happened, at least not the first five or 10 times.

Luckily teacher Justin Nichols was there to give us a hand, he's a lifting pro, and eventually we got it! I was pretty excited. Thanks Justin.

I think I found out who the dark horse couple of this competition is. . . Steve Chadwick and Charlie Windell are looking on form! Who knew our mayor could dance?

Paul Hickey and Tania Tapsell are also looking great, I saw Paul pick up Tania and hang her upside down while he spun around with all the ease in the world.

Our lift might not be as amazing, but you have to start somewhere.

As for Flash's toe, which everyone seems to be worried about, it's okay, sort of. He says it's sort of floating around on the side of his foot, but he reckons it will join back on soon.

Don't forget we are doing this for hospice. If you would like to donate to the wonderful cause head to https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/kyradawsondwrs.
