Teen R&B/Pop superstar Justin Bieber has millions of young girls and women who adore him but The Daily Post chief reporter Kristin Macfarlane found one of those in Rotorua - her 3-year-old niece Jayelle Haerewa who takes Bieber-fever to a whole other level.

Most 3-year-old girls get excited about characters such as Dora the Explorer, Barbie or Blues Clues, but Jayelle Haerewa is more interested in her "boyfriend".

But this so called boyfriend of hers is not just any boy.

He is more than five times her age, already has a girlfriend, is known for making statements such as "I just need somebody to love" and has millions of girls and women from around the world who adore him. Yes, young Jayelle has a severe case of Bieber-fever.

The toddler obviously has a lot of competition when it comes to winning over this teen heart-throb, but don't bother telling her that.

If you ask this 3-year-old who Justin Bieber is her reply will be simple ... "My boyfriend". If you ask her why she likes him, yet again you will get a quick response ... because "he's hot" and because "he's cool like that".

Justin Bieber is a Canadian R&B/Pop star who was discovered through video-sharing website YouTube and later signed to R&B singing sensation Usher's record label. He has since produced hit singles, received many accolades and become a teen idol who is loved and hated by many.

Although Jayelle has never met the Bieber, she feels she has a connection with him. So much so that she not only sings and dances to his songs when they come on the television or radio - especially her favourite song Baby - but she screams for him to "come back" when his appearance has ended.

There is no denying Jayelle is a Belieber with Bieber-fever.

Jayelle's mum, Rotorua's Lori Graham, said she noticed her daughter's infatuation with the star in April. She said Jayelle had been a fan for longer but it was around that time it became clear just how much of a fan she really was.

"I asked her who mummy's boyfriend was and she said Michael Jackson and when I asked her who her boyfriend was she said Justin Bieber," Ms Graham said.

Music has a strong influence in Jayelle's home so it's no surprise her first crush is a musician. Her mum has been dancing in different Rotorua crews since she was 12 and is now part of a Wellington-based all girls dance crew. The 23-year-old has also done cabaret dancing.

Ms Graham said Jayelle would get excited whenever Bieber came on the television and would sing and dance to his music and would also tell everyone around her that he's her boyfriend.

Ms Graham decided to record Jayelle's enthusiasm for the singer one day when Jayelle started yelling "come back Justin Bieber" after one of his music videos had finished on the television.
The pair, who regularly speak to each other in Maori, started having a debate about Justin Bieber and whether or not he was Jayelle's boyfriend.
She speaks Maori in the video which, when translated in to English means "I want Justin Bieber".
Jayelle was not impressed with her mum who told her Justin Bieber didn't like her.

Jayelle and her mum are currently living in Palmerston North but regularly visit Ms Graham's hometown of Rotorua.
While staying in the city over Queen's Birthday weekend, Jayelle was a little confused when she saw a picture of Justin Bieber in a photo frame at the house she was staying at.
She told her mum she wanted to talk to Justin Bieber and his mum on the phone.
