Police are investigating an incident at a dairy in Ranolf St.

A Police Northern Communications spokesman said details were still sketchy but it was believed a group of school-aged children went into the Ranolf Superette, near Wallace Cres, and took some items before running off.

He said police were still looking for them. He couldn't confirm what had been taken.

The dairy owner told the Rotorua Daily Post one of the group had taken a swing at him before running out of the shop.

Police are still at the scene.
