Legendary hip-hop act and Jimmy Fallon's house band, The Roots, are returning to Aotearoa for the first time in nearly 20 years for a concert in Tauranga.

Summer Haze, known for throwing a hip-hop, soul and roots party in Aotearoa, will give music fans a special farewell to 2024 by hosting legendary hip-hop act The Roots at Wharepai Domain in Tauranga.

The Roots will be in New Zealand for one exclusive show on December 30 and local acts are excited about the prospect of taking to the stage before band members such as Black Thought and Questlove, a statement said.

They are the official house band on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Rolling Stone magazine named them one of the “greatest live bands around”.

Home Brew will open for The Roots during the latter's exclusive New Zealand show hosted by Summer Haze.
