Farmer's five legged calf divides opinions

Some people think a five-legged calf is a bit of a freak and others think it is just adorable.
The calf, which has a fifth leg growing out of its neck, has become pretty popular on Trade Me since being listed by Reporoa dairy farm manager Jonathan King last week.
Bids have reached $150 for the calf, which would have fetched only $15 if put on the bobby truck shortly after birth like other unwanted calves.
Many have stated the calf - dubbed "Legs" by Mr King - was lucky to be alive. Others say it should have been shot at birth.
However, Mr King, who thinks the "friendly" animal would make a perfect calf club pet or family pet, is selling it for Christmas beer money.
He's not at all perturbed by some of the negative comments left on Trade Me. He's received one text message from a woman who thought Legs was "cute as".
"She's captured people's hearts ... It's funny as," he said.
"There have been a few mixed opinions, it's all good. I knew it would get a few looks but not to this extent."
This farmer hopes the calf goes to a good home.
"It would be nice to think she will have a couple of years before ending up in the freezer." Mr King said.
He's looking forward to buying a few beers when the auction closes next Thursday, December 30, with 10 people presently fighting it out to buy the calf.
"Well, you do have to have a cold one for the Christmas season," Mr King said.
