Family calls for return of bike used to get to work

A Rotorua family hopes the local community can help them find their stolen bike.

Corina Welsh said her family lived in Western Heights and the bike was stolen from her property on Sunday night.

She said the bike is used by her partner every day to get to and from work.

Without the bike he would have to walk to work which takes nearly an hour.

Police are investigating the incident but Ms Welsh hopes members of the public might spot the missing bike and call police.

"We just want it back," she said.

"He is the only one working, and as we have a nearly 4-year-old son, it is going to take a long time to save up for another one.

"I am upset that someone thought it okay to just take it like that, and it has left me feeling violated and unsafe."

Ms Welsh had her fingers crossed the offender would be caught.

"If the word is out there, then someone might know something, and we can get it back."

The writing on the bike reads "Terrain Buster" and "Raleigh". Anyone with information should contact Rotorua police on (07) 348 0099.
