After spending more than 80 hours building the model of the Waiariki Charity House, Craig Fenton says he enjoyed his opportunity to contribute to the charity project.
Mr Fenton was enrolled in the year-long Certificate in Carpentry and was selected from his Waiariki Institute of Technology carpentry class to build the model.
The process saw Mr Fenton learn the basic instruction of a house and how it all went together. It was also an opportunity for students to learn finishing work.
The project provided real-life experience for carpentry students who built the house from the ground up, under the watchful eye of tutors and local builders.
"The project was a brilliant idea and was very beneficial because you learn more by doing," Mr Fenton said.
