"I remember going to Art in the Park as a child and it is kind of special to be involved with the event now.
"I love that the focus is on artisans because there is something special about buying goods from the people who have made them, and many of the artists and arts groups have their own studios, exhibitions and classes coming."
Acres said it was also a great place to have a picnic and enjoy a bit of nice weather - "fingers crossed" - in the Government Gardens.
"It is really special to run an event in the Government Gardens and it is such an amazing asset for Rotorua to have this beautiful, accessible space right in the heart of the city.
"The weather is looking promising, there will be music, lovely people, a free kids' art activity run by local artist Lani Eyles and lots of information about art classes and other activities coming up."
She said all the artists in the music line-up were local, playing covers and originals across a mix of genres.
"Creative Communities Rotorua have generously provided funding so we can pay our artists and have sound done, and we are so grateful for their support.
"Next year I would like to have an alley of food stalls/caravans and we would like to work with other arts providers in Rotorua to have them attending with information on their classes and programmes too."
It will be the first time performing at Art in the Park for Rotorua singer/songwriter Trojan-John Te Rehu-Tuki.
He came back to Rotorua about two years ago from Australia, where he had lived for 10 years and was a full-time musician.
He enjoyed being in a creative atmosphere because it was inspiring and he would be jamming with his cousin - "hopefully others enjoy the vibe too".
Te Rehu-Tuki would do a mix of covers and originals.
He encouraged people to attend the event because it was great to get among the community and being around creative things brought colour to the world.
"It takes a community to support a community, and especially from an arts perspective."
Tauranga artist Nancy Frazer is travelling to Rotorua for the event, where she has been stallholder for many years.
She does contemporary art, with a lot based around New Zealand nature.
She enjoyed the environment at Art in the Park.
"The people are very friendly, and the organisers. I'm happy to be there every year."
Art in the Park is on tomorrow, from 10am to 4pm, in the Government Gardens.
