Williams set to rock into Dargaville with Dragon

In a fitting return to his hometown, Mark Williams is to perform in one of the kumara capital's packing sheds.
One of Dargaville's favourite musical sons, Williams, as frontman for New Zealand-Australian 70s band Dragon, will be back to perform on January 28 as part of their "Sounds of Summer Kumara Tour".
Along with other top Kiwi talent, including reggae band Herbs, they will perform live in the Turiwiri kumara-packing sheds.
Patrons will need to bring their own seating and can choose whether they sit on the shed or outside in the paddock with views of the concert and the kumara fields.
Acoustics are expected to be excellent - the sheds are fully insulated and the size will allow twice the seating.
The last time Mark and Dragon rocked into Dargaville was in September 2008 when 850 packed out the town hall.
With standing room only, Mark sang his way through the event to chants of "we love you Mark", leaving no doubts about his popularity.
The group delivers such classics as April Sun In Cuba and Are You Old Enough.
The 56-year-old, now living in Sydney, began his singing career in Dargaville at age 16, when he and three schoolmates formed the band Face in 1970. He then went solo before crossing the Tasman in 1977.
In May he and Dragon received a double whammy - Mark was inducted in ROCKONZ Hall of Fame as New Zealand's top singer in 1975/76 with 10 top hits and four gold albums.
His most-recognised song, the 1990 Show No Mercy, is still used as a motivational anthem at sporting events across the Tasman.
Dragon was inducted on the same night.
