A Whangarei business is offering a reward for the return of a laptop computer storing precious pictures and video clips of a 3-year-old girl.
Thieves stole the laptop from a car boot and on it were digital memories of Chloe Lucia Seaman, who died of an asthma attack two months before Christmas. The Northern Advocate made an appeal for the return of the laptop, along with CDs and DVDs stolen in the theft, but have had nothing returned.
Now Northland Toyota, based in Whangarei, is putting up a reward for the laptop.
Friends and colleagues of Ian Seaman, Chloe's father, have put up an undisclosed amount of money. A spokesman said it was a "substantial reward".
"If all you are after is money, then we will do what we can and make it happen.
" But we want the laptop back with these photos intact," he said. "Someone will know someone who knows something about this and they need to come forward."
The laptop was in the boot of a car that was parked in the driveway of a Tamaterau house.
It was just metres away from where three people were sleeping.
The thieves had rifled through a CD folder, stashed beneath the front seat, and selected CDs and DVDs that were of Chloe.
