One of New Zealand's biggest homeware retailers looks likely to set up shop in Kerikeri some time over the next six months.
The likely site is believed to be the old Countdown supermarket premises on Kerikeri Rd which has been vacant since November 2011, but Briscoes group managing director and
deputy chairman, Rod Duke, said formal documents had yet to be signed.
"We are keen to open in Kerikeri, and all being well we will achieve that before Christmas," he said.
In 2001 Briscoes became a public company listed on the NZX as part of the Briscoes Group that includes Briscoes, Rebel Sport and Living & Giving.
Work to extend and refurbish the old Countdown has been underway since last week.
