Police are seeking information from the public after a man tried to force a woman into a vehicle in Napier.
The 21-year-old woman was walking along Douglas McLean Avenue, near Higgins Street, Marewa, about 5pm on Thursday.
A man driving a vehicle described as a dark-coloured Subaru Forester pulled up alongside the
woman.
He opened the passenger door to speak to her. While in conversation, he grabbed the complainant's clothing and tried to drag her into the vehicle.
The complainant broke free and ran off. The man drove away toward the Marewa shopping centre.
He was described as a light-skinned Maori or Polynesian aged about 27, with light-coloured eyes. He was clean-shaven and of medium build.
He was wearing a cap and a high-visibility top coloured orange and dark blue
The location, a thoroughfare between Kennedy and Taradale roads, was reasonably busy at that time of day.
Police were asking anyone with any information to contact them.
