Rain, thunder, lightning, wind - Hawke's Bay had a taste of it all over the last couple of days but some sunshine and higher temperatures are on their way for the rest of the week until Saturday.
The F.A.W.C! Yappie Hour event at Trinity Hill Wines was cancelled yesterday dueto high winds, and there were reports of thunder and lightning across Hastings and Napier on Monday night, accompanied by heavy rain in some places, including further south in Central Hawke's Bay.
Winds also wreaked havoc in Taradale, where yesterday morning rubbish had been picked up and blown around.
Metservice meteorologist Stephen Glassey said a significant low pressure system moved across the region on Monday and yesterday morning, making its way East of the North Island by yesterday afternoon.
Colder temperatures yesterday were due to the strong southerly flow that remained in place over Hawke's Bay, but a big change was on the cards for today, he said.
"A northwest flow is starting to develop, which is a good wind direction to get some warmer temperatures."
A mid-afternoon maximum temperature of 27C was predicted for Hastings today, slighter cooler in Napier because of its coastal location.
"Generally speaking Thursday is looking like there will be a few showers, but they will be mostly in the ranges and while there might be a few spots of rain from high cloud on Friday, it will still be largely dry."
The outlook was not so promising for Saturday, however, with another southerly flow expected to bring heavier rain in the morning, tailing off to showers later in the afternoon.
