An inquest into the death of farmer Jack Nicholas will be held in the Napier Coroner's Court on September 25.
The inquest will be four years and one month after he was shot outside his cottage on Makahu Farm, in the foothills of the Kaweka Ranges, on the morning of August 27, 2004.
A trial in which Haumoana man Murray Foreman was charged with murder ended on May 28 with a not guilty verdict, and police have not charged anyone else with the death.
The inquest is one of the last two before Napier District Coroner Warwick Holmes, retiring amid a new coronial inquest regime established with the appointment of Christopher Devonport as regional coroner from July 1 last year.
