Napier's damaged webcam is back in action, two months after being knocked out by bad weather - and possibly vandals.
The camera was set up to beam scenic images of Napier and the bay to TVNZ's Breakfast show, but it developed a water leak during heavy rain in July.
Napier City Council IT manager Andrew Siddles said it was still not clear how the damage occurred but vandals may have been to blame.
"As ridiculous as it sounds, it's 12m up a pole but it looks as though it was vandalised, and that cracked the casing on the camera," he said.
The council was reluctant to put the camera back until the cause of the damage had been established.
Measures had been put in place to prevent it being vandalised again.
Images from the waterfront camera were once again screened on Breakfast last week.
Mr Siddles said repair costs would be covered by insurance. The camera cost the council $15,000 to buy and install.
