Girl gang members charged

Four members of a Flaxmere girl gang have been charged after police inquiries into a 15-year-old girl being hit and dragged 300m by a car last Thursday evening.
The girl is in a stable condition in Waikato Hospital after several long operations.
The accident is believed to have occurred after a fight broke out outside Hastings Boys' High School on Karamu Road after the regional final of the national youth Search for the Stars competition.
Detective Luke Shadbolt of the Hastings CIB said three girls, two aged 15 and one 17, had been charged with assault with intent to injure after allegedly attacking the driver of the car moments before she hit the 15-year-old girl with her car.
Mr Shadbolt said an 18-year-old woman had been charged with assaulting the driver in an earlier incident.
"There is no firm decision on whether charges against the driver will be laid," Mr Shadbolt said.
