The 39-year-old told them he had been selling cannabis, at a rate of about 10 tin-foiled "bullets" a month, and when he appeared for
sentence in the Napier District Court yesterday, he was jailed for 12 months.
It took a bit of effort to get the admission out of him when the search took place on September 22, according to the police summary which said he initially denied supplying any cannabis.
But he then said he started selling a small number of "bullets" - about three a week - a couple of years ago after approaches from visitors staying at a backpackers' hostel.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of selling cannabis.
