When you've survived breast cancer, a little rain isn't going to hold you back. Walkers in this morning's Pink Army March dressed warmly and braved the polar blast hitting Hawke's Bay, all in the name of raising breast cancer awareness. About 60 supporters, some of whom were cancer survivors, rugged up inpink and marched along Marine Parade at 7am. Buffeted by more than the usual sea breeze and drenched from the rain, for most a hot drink was just the ticket at the end. Katie Hunter, Trudy Godwin and Cheryl Tansey, all in their 20s, were there to do their part, dressed in pink from head to frozen toes. "Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. With the statistics so high, one in 10 women are affected," Cheryl said. "As women we have to be aware and it's also a chance to raise some money," Katie said. "And it's good to see the men dressed in pink, too." Today is Pink Ribbon Day, so please give generously when you see the street collectors.
