Men, dust off the penguin suit; ladies, slip on your favourite kitten heels for a fun-filled evening in support of the Napier and Hastings' SPCAs.
The inaugural Glamourpuss Ball will be held at Napier War Memorial Conference Centre on Saturday, November 22, with live music, great food and local wines.
A formal or black-tie dress code is encouraged, so pull on those glad rags and dance the night away to sing along tunes from The Groove Foundation.
It is appropriate people raise funds at this time of year, as the twin city shelters are inundated with spring kittens.
"All funds raised on the night will go towards vet fees, every animal that comes to our door is vet checked at least twice, vaccinated, given any treatment it might need, de-sexed, de-flead and wormed," organiser Faye Johnson said.
"Our costs per animal are up there, and they aren't covered by adoption fees. The SPCA gets no Government funding, no Lotteries grants, and nothing from head office, so we are entirely community supported."
Tickets are $147 per person or $1400 for a table of 10 including dinner, a complimentary glass of bubbly or orange juice and three bottles of wine on the table donated by Sileni Estates, Tironui Estate and Sacred Hill Wine Company.
There will also be an auction, where people can bid on 14 items - from a five-night Tonga Experience, including accommodation and airfares, to a pooch pamper package, limited release Hawke's Bay wines from Ash Ridge Wines, Dartmoor Road Wines and Advintage Dick Frizzell Wines, and a rugby jersey signed by All Black Dan Carter for the sports buff.
"It's a chance for people to support us with the charity auction, they will be supporting both branches who are working closer together to help the animals of Hawke's Bay," Ms Johnson said.
