The Christmas Cheer Appeal which will help about 3000 less fortunate people in the Napier and Hastings communities enjoy the festive season has edged past the $4000 mark.
It is a great figure to reach already as the annual appeal, which has been run for more than 30 years, only sparked into life last Saturday.
The business community and individuals are again getting in behind it, and as well as cash donations gifts and goodies have begun to arrive at the drop-off points.
On the cash front, the staff at the Napier City Council's Community Services knew exactly what to do with some leftover funds from a recent Christmas get-together.
They each paid a share to attend and at the end of the evening they found there was some left over.
