For only a gold coin, fans can watch Hawke's Bay's premier basketball team next season.

Yesterday, Hawks Basketball franchise chairman Keith Price and Taylor Corporation announced Taylor's sponsorship of the Hawks for next season.

The corporation will be sponsoring entry, meaning the public have to pay only a gold coin donation to attend home games.

When they had tried the same donation last year, Kelvin Taylor, managing director of the Hastings apple growers and suppliers, said it had been great to see young children able to attend.

"It doesn't benefit us as an exporter, but being part of the community, and helping kids go is really good. At Taylor corp, we encourage things like that to happen," he said.

"They get a lot of enjoyment, and even if your team is losing ... everyone's happy."

Hawks Basketball franchise chairman Keith Price said to have the "big, family company" on board was fantastic.

The gold coin donation was a great idea, which would make spectators, and sponsors happy.

"Our aim isn't to make the bulk of our money off the gate, but to get more involved, and watching the games ... it means everyone's happy."
