MetService forecaster Hannah Moes said nearly everywhere would enjoy the sun but areas from Waikato north, and the West Coast and southernmost regions of the South Island could expect light showers throughout the day.
The showers in the north would clear as the day went on with any risk of getting wet confined to western Northland by the end of the day.North Island temperatures would sit in the early 20s with Auckland hitting 20C and Wellington at 19C.
After a chilly 3C start to the day, Christchurch would warm up with a gloriously sunny 20C.Further south, Dunedin could expect a day peppered by showers but clearing later in the day and a high of 16C.
