The Green Party in Hawke's Bay has selected its candidates to contest the Napier and Tukituki seats in this year's general election.
Paul Bailey will stand for the party in Napier and Chris Perley will represent the Greens in the race for the Tukituki electorate.
Mr Perley's candidacy was confirmed this week following a contested election process. Two aspirants had put themselves forward for the role: Mr Perley and former regional councillor Liz Remmerswaal.
"It is great to see a contest to be a Green candidate in a Hawke's Bay electorate," the party's local convener, Roy Boonen, said. He was delighted that two "highly qualified applicants" had put their names forward for the seat.
Mr Bailey and Mr Perley both stood, unsuccessfully, for seats on the Hawke's Bay Regional Council in last year's local body elections.
