HINERANGI VAIMOSO They weren't pupils this morning, instead they were giraffes, camels, mice, leopards, tigers, angels and what appeared to be sheep.
St Matthew's Primary School won over the crowds last year with their fine singing.
This year, they've added some of the most elaborate costumes to their float ready for the annual Hastings Blossom Parade.
It has come to that time of year again when businesses and organisations from across the Hastings district get their thinking caps on to come up with the most creative floats incorporating blossoms into the design whether they're real or handmade.
The Hastings Blossom Parade begins on Saturday at 1.30pm. It was a tradition brought back to life last year when the city celebrated its 50th year as an official city. All floats will prepare to start the parade outside the Hastings District Council office on Lyndon Road.
The procession will then continue down Warren, Queen, Nelson and Eastbourne streets, which will be closed for the afternoon.
There are already 50 floats set to take the street as well as individuals on bikes and others entertaining in various ways.
About 100 people are set to take part, with thousands of spectators expected to line the pavement and watch the action.
The organisers provide seats for the elderly and for those with restricted mobility.
People wishing to use these seats are asked to ring Creative Hastings on 878 9447 prior to the day, so they can be issued with a ticket for a seat.
Those wishing to drop off people in the area of the provided seats also need to get a car pass from Creative Hastings.
