A 20-year-old unemployed Hastings man will appear in Hastings District Court today following a violent attack on Wednesday.
Hastings detectives arrested the alleged offender last night and charged him with robbery and assault as a result of the unprovoked attack on a 33-year-old Hastings man in Akina Park.
A police spokeswoman said
the pair met in central Hastings and walked to Akina Park together, before the offender beat the man and stole a "quantity of property and cash".
"As a result of this attack, the victim received serious facial injuries, including a fractured nose, cuts and bruising," she said.
