This region's tourism organisation Trust Tairawhiti wants regional input to develop a 10-year “roadmap” to tourism success.
The trust is inviting interested parties to an online consultation hui to help develop its Destination Management Plan (DMP) for Tairāwhiti.
It will guide Trust Tairāwhiti's decision-making and operations for the visitor sector
over the next five to 10 years. They will use it as a guide providing environmental, social, cultural, and economic benefits to the community and enjoyable tourist visits.
“The trust will hold a series of public online sessions to better understand community aspirations for what the visitor economy could do for our people and places,” acting regional tourism manager Holly Hatzilamprou said.
“We would like to get as many local people as possible to jump on these online zoom sessions to contribute to our DMP. It's important we bring together all voices from our community, as well as our regional partners to ensure the benefits of tourism are spread across the entire region.
