Tickets on sale for trout trip

TICKETS have gone on sale for the annual kids fishing trip to the Ngongotaha trout hatchery near Rotorua and organiser Murray Ferris again expects to see them sell out fast.

The day trip to the hatchery is on Saturday August 6.

“Once again we will take a bus load of more than 40 youngsters over there for the day and they are guaranteed to catch a trout,” Mr Ferris said.

“The Gisborne-Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club has come on board this year as our major sponsor.”

Tickets for the trip are available at the fishing club office.

“The bus will depart from the fishing club this year and arrive back there,” he said.

The trip caters for children aged 7-12.

“Our other sponsors are the Motu Outdoor Enterprises Trust, the Gisborne Angling Club, First Light Frozen, Pak’nSave, Waikaremoana Boating Association and Eastern Region Fish and Game Council.

“Tickets for this event always sell out quickly because it is so popular with the kids,” Mr Ferris said.

“We expect them to sell like hot cakes again this year.”

Tickets cost $25 a head.

“The children need to bring their own lunch and wet weather gear. But everything else is provided including the trout.”
