THIS week Whinray Eco Trust started the first stages of its latest predator exclusion fence at Motu.
“This project connects to our kiwi chick creche and will hold a range of endangered Tairawhiti plants, gecko, skinks, invertebrates and hopefully tuatara,” the trust wrote in a Facebook post.
When completed, visitors
will be able to walk through and meet tuatara in their natural habitat.
“It will be a great science field classroom for schools,” the trust said.
The trust is looking for volunteers to help with the project. People can ring trustee Steve Sawyer on 027 209 6049.
