Travellers on exposed roads may be buffeted by strong winds this evening and tomorrow.
During the weekend MetService issued an outlook for this week, which indicated moderate confidence for northwest winds to be strong as far eastwards as Hawke's Bay and Gisborne.
There is also a prediction of periods of
heavy rainfall in the eastern Bay of Plenty ranges, affecting the highway through the Waioeka Gorge.
The rain watch says falls may approach warning criteria, over the period from this evening to tomorrow morning. — RH
