Now in its second year, the Tairawhiti Early Childhood Gymnastics festival yesterday was “a hive of activity and excitement,” said Sport Gisborne Tairawhiti Active Mokopuna co-ordinator Monique McLeod.
There were 123 children from 10 early childhood centres across the district who attended the event at Gisborne Gym Club at the
Electrinet Sports Centre.
The environment was set up to provide maximum fun and challenge to children.
“We used gymnastics equipment to create a giant playground, with a range of obstacles that challenged tamariki to jump, roll, climb, swing, bounce, swing, balance and throw.
“Learning these skills is essential to creating kids who are motivated and confident to be active for life,” she said.
