Competition turned into a sweet treat for children at Gisborne Hospital this Christmas Eve. Tereza Kalinova from The Gisborne Herald got into the holiday spirit and donated a gingerbread village to the team at Planet Sunshine, the children's ward at Gisborne Hospital.
“My friend said we should do something Christmassy
so we decided to do a gingerbread competition.”
Four households were involved in the challenge of designing the best ginger structures.
“We thought it would be easy but everyone got so into it— It was very competitive.”
Although Tereza's team did not win the competition they decided to donate the treat rather than eat it, sharing Christmas joy and plenty of sugar with children who needed a little sweetness.
