Re: It's not Zombie Apocalypse, April 4 letter.
Crystal ball gazing and theorising does not solve a pandemic. To theorise that all is lost if you have lost your job, business etc due to lockdown is a terrible message to even contemplate.
Many people manage to rebuild their lives and
income after the end of the worlds that have happened in human history. We are a resilient bunch and even hardier when we work together or get behind a common objective.
This is not a mindless plan. Emergency managers, public health leaders and the rest of the public service modify parts of the plan daily. The number of changes/tweaks while in an evolving situation demonstrates that this is not a case-in-stone response and that will continue to be so.
I suggest people take some of the lockdown period to read up about New Zealand's co-ordinated incident management system (3rd version) to get some idea about how emergency managers work and how recovery from an event is part of the planning very early in the response. How else would we have financial packages already to help the recovery of the economy when we emerge out the other side?
