THE weekend could not have gone better and the Gisborne Civic Brass Band took two first places in the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Brass Band Competitions. They were happy to collect silverware, said Gisborne Civic Brass Band musical director Chris Reynolds.
“The absolute coup was winning the D Grade hymn. This
is a compulsory event that all bands must play in.”
They also took first place in the solo category, and Mr Reynolds played Sweet Georgia Brown on trombone, accompanied by the band.
“We all had a fantastic weekend. It was an absolute blast and a total success.”
