"We created a page on Facebook and so far about 200 people have said they will come and take part. It's a great summer event and hopefully the water shouldn't be too cold, it should be quite refreshing."
Louis has also received support from Tauranga's The Edge radio station, which is helping with promoting the event and providing prizes for those taking part.
The Edge's Kerry Gregory said everyone who took part would be given a prize.
She said prizes would also be given to the the oldest person taking part as well as the person who performs the best bomb.
"This is really exciting," she said. "We are all really stoked to take part and we are looking forward to smashing the world record. I mean, who doesn't want to take part in a world record attempt? I think it is something which is on a lot of people's bucket lists."
The event is being held at midday on Saturday at the Tauranga Bridge Marina. Registrations are from 11am.
