Tauranga police have issued another warning after an increasing spate of car thefts from petrol stations.
This time, Senior Sergeant Rob Glencross said offences have happened across the Western Bay of Plenty and that locations with multiple vehicles present such as boat-ramps and golf courses are among the areas beingtargeted.
Police have also seen a number of reports of property being stolen from the back of utes in recent weeks.
Residents are reminded to ensure that their vehicles are well secured and that no items of property are left in view or in the backs of utes.
While much of the reported offending is occurring during daylight hours, police are also continuing to receive reports of cars being broken into overnight whilst parked outside residential addresses.
In today's Bay of Plenty Times, police told of instances where people filling up their car with petrol were having their cars stolen from under their nose.
Police are very keen on any information as to who might be responsible as well as any reports of suspicious people or vehicles.
