Papamoa's new KFC opens its doors at midday today. To celebrate its arrival in the community, KFC Papamoa has teamed up with the Papamoa Surf Lifesaving Club and unveiled a $10,000 community sponsorship initiative.
KFC general manager Brent Kitto said the restaurant wanted to support the surf club so it could
keep Papamoa's beaches and people safe this summer. From today through to February 1, there will be a donation box inside the restaurant, where people can donate to the Surf Club. KFC will match every cent donated, with the assistance of a sponsorship grant of up to $5000.
Papamoa Surf Lifesaving Chairman Shane Smith said the surf club relied on the generosity of sponsors, like KFC, and the local community to be able to keep going. The funds raised by the fundraising drive would help the club buy much needed equipment, Mr Smith said.
