Bay of Plenty Polytechnic music students are serving up a fresh feast of diverse entertainment in their Spring it On music showcase.
The showcase, the second of three in 2010, will be held at the Colosseum on September 15.
The night's line-up includes seven bands from the Tioriori Certificate in Music Production and
Performance and Diploma programmes.
A smorgasbord of tastes will be catered for with a large proportion of the night's bands presenting original material.
The Danielle Murphy project features singer/songwriter Danielle with friends presenting an appetiser from her collection to start the evening.
This is followed by The Girlz where Danielle joins Annette Smither and Natalia McDonald for their versions of some well known covers.
The Generics, led by Justin Bradford and Conah Target-Jones with guest Lee McKenzie and friends from Spork present their "groove" then Spork are back again featuring new members Matt Gibson alongside graduates Sam Leamy, Ashley McKinley and current course members Richard Steele and Sam Abbott.
Their music blends genres and is experimental yet accessible to listeners.
With a growing fan base Spork never disappoint with their ability to deliver humour with strong musicianship.
Exceptional local drummer Nic Ririnui is joined by well-known musicians Damon Innes and Mani Sharplin delivering a mix of indie, reggae, dub and NZ covers.
Last up is Battle of the Bands Regional Finalists Black Opium and Lockdown.
Tyson Sykes, Quinn Hireme, Daniel Rolinson, Ray Watts and John Clarke are Black Opium who will be presenting an intensely energetic set of heavy metal.
Lockdown is Annette Smither, Anaru Bush and Tony Fox who will perform all the songs from their up and coming EP which is a feast of heavy alternative grunge rock.
