Tauranga City Council and Western Bay of Plenty District Council have appointed three new trustees for Tourism Bay of Plenty.

Tourism Bay of Plenty Chairman, Paul Bowker said the appointments would "bring further experience to the organisation".

Michelle Malcolm, a highly experienced business advisor at Crowe Horwath Tauranga, has a strong history of business advisory in the Bay of Plenty area, establishing the organisation's Tauranga office in 2000. She has helped local businesses expand nationally and internationally, improve efficiencies and increase profitability, and has experience in tax planning, strategic development, structuring and financial management and governance.

Anne Blakeway brings more than twenty years of international hospitality and tourism experience to Tourism Bay of Plenty, including Owner/Director of award-winning Kilcamb Lodge in the Scottish Highlands, Training Manager at the Five Star Boca Raton Resort and Club in Florida, and currently Director of Plenti Foods Limited.
Anne has recently been part of the project management team set up to develop and expand Comvita's brand experience with the opening of their Concept Store in Auckland's Viaduct, as well as the new Experience Comvita visitor experience in Paengaroa.

BDO Tauranga Director Janine Hellyer brings more than 15 years' experience in the accounting and taxation industries. Janine has a practical down-to-earth approach which allows her to build strong and lasting relationships with clients and work with them to develop and grow their business. As a long-term Tauranga local, she has a strong understanding of the cultural history of the region and a passion to contribute to its future development.

Mr Bowker says he is confident the three new appointments will make a significant contribution to the organisation's strategic vision.

"Our vision at Tourism Bay of Plenty is to provide vibrant and sustainable visitor experiences and become one of the top five tourism destinations in New Zealand by 2020. Collectively, Michelle, Anne and Janine have the experience and skill-sets required to make a significant impact on our marketing, management, leadership and development activities."

The new appointments are joining the current team of Tania Bui, Jodi Tong, Lucy Brake, Ian Smith and Paul Bowker.
