My sister, my hero

I've always been a big fan of crowing about something or someone that you're proud of.

My proudness today is actually about my darling sister Katie. She's 33, lives in Wellington with her partner Diogo, just bought her first house and runs her own web content company. It's called 'Sixtyproof'. Look it up! But that's not why I'm proud of her.

She's done quite a bit of travel. She lived and worked in Canada until, in a very 'her' kind of way, she went 'I'm done, I'm out and I'm coming home'.

Her reason? Sometimes you don't realise how much you love home until you leave it! Bang, she's on a plane home. But that's still not why I'm proud of her.

She also did two1/2 years of a three-year Bachelor of Arts degree (getting great marks) and went 'screw this I'm over it' and quit. Then did a web course and became a web mogul.

Her tolerance for continuing anything that she's not in to is low. I wish I could be that decisive. Though that's still not why I'm proud of her.

I'm proud of her because she's about to have a baby, due in April! The world will be a much better place with a little combo of her and Diogo. All I have to do now is convince them to move to the Bay.

My angle is why would you do a disservice to your infant son by not giving him the chance to grow up by the beach and out of a big schmooze-fest like Wellington?

She's not buying it. Nor is she buying 'move here cos I'm here!' But I'll turn her, you'll see!
