Transport Minister Simon Bridges has announced today he will be officially opening the Tauranga Eastern Link on July 30 - although it will not be open to the public at this date.
There will be a public open day on August 1 and the road will be open to traffic
in the following week.
Mr Bridges said in an emailed statement to the Bay of Plenty Times today that he was "really looking forward to opening the Tauranga Eastern Link on 30 July, five months ahead of schedule, and delivering such a nationally significant project to Tauranga and the wider Bay".
Mr Bridges said the it would not be just be the Bay of Plenty that benefited from the $455 million road.
"It's the second of seven of the Government's Roads of National Significance (RoNs) that have been identified as crucial to New Zealand's ongoing economic growth.
