Emergency water shutdown in Te Puke

A large emergency water shutdown is affecting parts of Te Puke today.

Western Bay District Council staff and its water services contractor Veolia are currently working to fix a leak to a large pipe on Poplar Lane, Te Puke.

Water is currently off to properties along Manoeka Rd, Lowry Rd, State Highway 2 from Manoeka Rd to Poplar Lane, and the end of Te Puke Quarry Rd.

A leak was reported to the council on Thursday afternoon, and Veolia staff were sent to Te Puke.

Upon inspection it was discovered the leaking pipe was much larger than anticipated.

Contractors began work to fix the leak yesterday and are continuing their efforts today. The current shutdown is expected to last until 1.30pm this afternoon.

Water is being supplied to residents at their request. Any affected residents wanting water can call the council on 07 571 8008, and Veolia will supply water to homes.
