Pet and Craft day at Turakina School ...

Turakina School pupils got to enjoy some farming fun at their pet day.

Parents were invited to the school to join in the novelty races, craft activities, young farmer competition, and the pet judging.

Principal Margaret McLean said the school - which has about 32 students - holds an annual pet day every year in term 4.

"But it's still a lot of fun, and the kids really enjoy themselves."

This year there was a handful of lambs, who were judged on a variety of categories including leading and come to call, as well as several dogs and a rabbit.

The young farmer competition involved activities such as gumboot throwing and putting up an electric fence.
