"I'm not ready to be without him yet," says Paul Martin, talking about his dog Cody, who fell down a water tomo on a Kupe Road farm two weeks ago.
Paul was helping friends out with some mustering and Cody was helping when the dog didn't come back when called.
"I kept going, mustered the whole paddock and still no sign of Cody."
As Paul got back to his ute and saw that Cody wasn't there he realised his mate might be in danger. "I knew about the tomo holes from dad, he had a dog fall down one years ago, so I started checking them."
The first two were fenced off, and there was no sign of Cody. "Then I heard a bark, and it wasn't his usual one, it was quieter and didn't sound happy."
