SYDNEY (AP) " Sydney FC has signed former Marseilles defender Jacques Faty for the remainder of Australia's A-League football season.
The 30-year-old Faty spent nine years in the French first division with Marseilles, Rennes and Sochaux and two seasons with the Turkish club Sivasspor. He joins Sydney FC from China Super League club Wuhan Zall and will play alongside his cousin, recent Sydney recruit Mickael Tavares.
Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold said Faty's "defensive abilities and leadership qualities will prove extremely valuable to us throughout the remainder of the season."
Meanwhile, the Western Sydney Wanderers have signed Japan defender Yusuke Tanaka to bolster their squad for the defense of their Asian Champions League title.
The 28-year-old Tanaka joins the Wanderers from J-League club Kawasaki Frontale.
