The Hits Fire and Ice Winter Festival went out with a bang, hundreds of Rotorua locals flocking to the Village Green to take part in the festivities.
Held on Saturday, the Fire and Light Ignite Lantern Parade started the night with locals displaying their lantern creations through the streets, finishing at the Village Green.
The procession of white, silver and pale blue lanterns was led down Tutanekai St by artists and street performers, who were preceded by a Brazillian percussion band.
Blaze Night was also at the Village Green after being postponed due to bad weather.
A traditional bonfire kept spectators warm while they enjoyed live fire performances, the Electric Blaze Riders and a fireworks and laser-light finale to wrap up the celebration.
Rotorua Mayor Steve Chadwick said it was a very charming event.
"We wandered through the festival and the charm of little children really brought the event to life."
Ms Chadwick said there were hundreds of spectators on the night. "We caught the end of the parade but there were some really clever lanterns on display.
"It was another great Rotorua night and it was great to have the ice skating rink on the Lakefront as well."
