A taxidermy ginger cat handbag has sold online - for just a third of the price its maker was hoping for.
The bag, made from the pelt and head of a cat, sold on Trade Me with a $1 reserve and buy now price of $1500.
The auction closed at 8.30pm tonight, with the unique item selling for $545.00.
The REAL Glamour puss PURSE was created by Christchurch taxidermist Claire Hobbs according to its label, which added no animal was killed for the purpose of making the bag.
A note was added to the listing saying: "Tom has made us laugh he has made us cry off to a new home to make a new owner happy."
The seller had a message for her "haters" too, saying "taxidermy ain't about money".
More than 1100 people added the item to their watchlist after the story made headlines in New Zealand and overseas.
The bag was described as a "one-off glamour puss purse" and a "very stylish handbag for the girl that has everything " which will "grab attention everywhere you go".
For those who missed out on the furry fashion item, an auction for a "unicorn" is running until Monday, with a buy now option of $7500 and no reserve.
Trade Me has a comprehensive list of banned and restricted items which cannot be sold, but it allows the sale of most taxidermy items.
